Life Outdoors Lunches 2: Cowboy Butter Mix
Share
The boys from Good Living Global were in to build their new semi-permanent pergola, so we thought it was the perfect time to use Hardcore Carnivore's Cowboy Butter Mix.
Cowboy butter is essentially garlic butter with extra spice and flavours, the mix gets it's name as it's traditionally used on foods cowboys would eat such as steak and other grilled meats. And they themselves would use their own variation of the mix while cooking with butter.
The way the mix works is that you add 1 part mix to 4 parts butter. For example, 8 tbs of butter and 2 tbs of the mix.
You can use it as a basting butter, cooking it with the steak in the pan, however, today we decided to use it as a finishing sauce for the steak.
The first step was softening the butter, all we had to do was leave the 8 tbs of butter at room temperature.
Next was pre-heating the Weber Slate BBQ, so it's nice and hot.
Once the butter was softened we added 2 tbs of Cowboy Butter Mix to the butter and mixed.
We were only using minute steaks so they cooked quickly. After they had shortly rested the cowboy butter sauce was poured over the top.
Just with some toasted bread, Swiss cheese and some salad the steaks were served. The coyboy butter added a beautiful flavour and the boys were very happy.
