Life Outdoors Lunches 1: Prawns

Life Outdoors Lunches 1: Prawns

Growing up I never ate prawns, I wouldn't go near them. Dad on the other hand would eat as many as he could get his hands on at Christmas. However, you could always see he was a little disappointed in how he had cooked them. They were chewy, not like the restaurant, he could never get them right.

It turns out he was over cooking them. Barbecuing them at too low of a temperature and having them well past well-done.

To cook these prawns we fired the Slate up and gave it a good pre-heat. We didn't have it quite maxed out, as we were aiming for 280C to avoid blackening the prawns.

We seasoned the prawns with some olive oil and used some of the Lane's Sweet Lemon Pepper Rub/Seasoning.

Putting them onto the Slate we made sure all of them were in good contact with the plate.

After only 1 minute it was time to flip them, in the video you can see the dark brown colouring we wanted.

1 more minute on the second side and they were done. We had them with a little salad, buns and siracha/sour cream.
